Monday night comp starts

Sports Power Monday Night Competition

The first round got underway last week. Division 1 only completed three of their four matches and last night will have played the first to five, tie break at four all to see if they can complete their matches by 10pm. Last week did see Andrew McPherson and Anthony Girdler win their sets getting 18 points, next getting 15 were Head Coach Gary Brenton and Ross Thomson.

In Division 2 Mark Rix and Jeremy Young won one set to get 16 games, followed by Richard Fox and Shane Kowald and Craig Miles and Liam Hare all on 15 games. In Division 3 Julie Girdler and Anthony Bailey won their three sets 7/6, 6/3, 6/2. Contact Craig on 0417 265 066, you would like to be a fill in.

Tuesday Ladies

Starts each Tuesday morning at 9am and wraps up at about 11:30am. The social morning is for all standards and all ages even for those players that have not played in years or would like to start tennis are very welcome. Mums with young ones are also welcome to come along as we offer a free babysitting service thanks to Alex and Michael. Morning tea is provided. $2 from every player goes to the Breast Cancer Foundation. For more information please ring Michael on 0477 038 744.

Adult Coaching Clinics Tuesdays and Wednesdays

Have commenced at 7pm and run until 8:30pm. The Adult squad sessions are aimed at giving an all round tennis experience. Each night will consist of match play, techniques, tactics and fitness. With two coaches on court they are designed for all standards and run for five weeks. The classes are filling fast so for for more information please ring Michael on 0477 038 744

Sports Power Thursday Night Competition

The Draw for this week is Djokovic v Print Gallery and Nadal v Murray and Wasted Nights v Williams. Last week Williams 36 defeated Nadal 16 and Print Gallery 30 just went down to Wasted Nights 32 and Murray 29 drew with Djokovic 29. Congratulations to Kim Harris, Daryl Messenger, Dave Lennard and Deidre Girdler winning all their sets. After School Group Coaching

The after school coaching programs at Howe Park resume this week and there are still spots available but bookings are essential. Classes run Monday through Friday. Please phone Michael on 0477 038 744 to book. 4pm – 4:45pm Beginners Hot Shots ages 3yrs – 10yrs. 4:45pm – 5:45pm Intermediate Hot Shots 10yrs – 16yrs.

Friday Junior Comp

Hunter Tennis Academy’s Friday Junior Competition brought many juniors down to the courts this week for tennis, we had the kids play matches on both the synthetic and natural grass. We would like to welcome some more newcomers, Jackson and Brock to the Friday comp and also thank Marisa and Danie Van Zyl for their help this week. Saturday Social

A good roll up of players to keep two courts going all afternoon, some of the players there were Robyn Schmierer, Cassie Buckley, Heidi Stanford, Ross Thomson and Richard Fox.

Question? Who is the up and coming young coach who aced a Division 2 player twice, and on the second serve? And what’s the reason for all these new Babolat shoes, now on players feet? Answers? Next week’s Argus. Social tennis is played every Saturday from 1pm and all players and visitors are welcome.

HPTC Annual General Meeting

Will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 2pm at the Clubhouse. All members are encouraged to attend and have your say on how the Club is run.
