A grade singles championships wrap up this week

On Saturday, February 1, Les Dawson defeated Terry Hooper 31 shots to 20, while Vaina Ioane defeated Maurie Dunn in a strong game, 31 shots to 15.

Les Kiehne defeated Terry Donald by a confident 17 shots, closing the game at 31 shots to 14, while Dennis Williams secured victory over Neil Cameron, 31 shots to 18.

Young bowler Nick Ellem secured a win over Neil Cameron in a confident game, closing at 31 shots to 10, while Karl Ramma defeated Peter Ross in a close game, 31 shots to 26.

On Sunday, February 2, Dennis Williams took on Vaina Ioane, stealing a win at 31 shots to 16, while Nick Ellem secured his second consecutive victory, defeating Les Kiehne, 31 shots to 16.

Robert Rees also enjoyed a day of good form, stealing the win from Bill Newberry by 31 shots to 16.

Junior bowls

In a much anticipated announcement, Taylor Bowls Company has agreed to sponsor the junior bowlers in Glen Innes.

Junior bowlers attending Saturday morning practices will be presented with a Taylor Bowls short, with the club continuing to train young and interested bowlers from eight years of age, commencing at 9am, with bowls provided.

In supporting the junior bowls programme, Taylor Bowls have donated eight sets of junior bowls to the club to be used on in Saturday sessions.

Social bowls

On Thursday, January 30, 12 players took part in the social bowls event, with Ray Rossington, Bood Newsome and Vaina Ioane defeating Mick McLoughlin, John Lee and Jack Nay, 12 ends 23 shots to 9 ends 14 shots, while Maurie Dunn, Brian Orvad and P Robinson defeated Mick McCarthy, Peter Ross and Les Kiehne 21 shots to 19.

On Sunday, February 2, George Keen and John Lee defeated Chris Burrell and Al Mander, 14 shots to 13, while V and R Dudley drew a tough stalemate against Mick and Joan McGoldrick 16 shots a piece.

Jeremy Anderson and Kerrie Arandale secured win over Cameron Florence and Neil Ellem in a tight game, 17 shots to 14.
